Environmental protection: Discontinuing use of plastic bags at supermarkets
The Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection decided to reduce use of plastic bags in supermarket chains. Zenovar evaluated the preferred mechanisms for implementing this decision.
The study included a survey of plastic bag usage among consumers in Israel and their opinions regarding the elimination of these bags from supermarkets. The financial impacts of prohibiting use of these bags were considered, compared to imposing levies on plastic bag users. These impacts were analyzed from the perspective of the general public, the economy, and plastic manufacturers. Zenovar supported the Ministry of Environmental Protection in their correspondences with plastic manufacturers in order to prepare for implementation of the law.
