Suriname: Agricultural Development strategy
Formulate a program to develop the considerable agricultural potential in Suriname and convert it into a source of fresh and processed produce for the Caribbean Islands and Europe, while preserving the country's unique ecological system.
The team at Zenovar, in conjunction with the Kaplan Group and a steering committee appointed by the government of Suriname, has presented a detailed plan for the development of agricultural export, agricultural industries and the local economy in a manner that will enable establishment of large agricultural farms in Suriname. The work conducted included drafting a detailed business plan for applied initiatives for promoting the following produce: citrus, rice, vegetables grown in enclosed areas, vegetable grown outdoors, root vegetables, water agriculture, and post-harvest products. The team at Zenovar produced a historical database of the prices of agricultural products in Suriname, a review of the historical development of the various agricultural sectors, and a value chain analysis of the country’s dairy farms, beef cattle, chicken coops, orchards and vegetables.
